The controlled Spin/Flow forming process is designed to reduce (neck down) the diameter of a can and pre-form the flange. The Ihly Bench Model Machine is a one station, non-production machine that is used to develop tooling, speed of rotation, and feed of the forming tools into the side of the can body. The machine is computer controlled, which allows the adjustments of the spindle speed, feedrate, and depth of feed to be set individually. This allows many variables to be evaluated, and providing an optimum sequence for a specific container. The Bench Model allows the user to quickly and easily change the tooling, and container sizes and lengths, as well as the ease of loading/unloading a 3-piece container using a manual chuck, or a 2-piece container using a vacuum chuck.
